As reported by Rai News, the prefect of Milano, Renato Saccone, has prohibited the sale of tickets to residents of Campania for Wednesday’s match between Inter Milan and Napoli. The decision was taken after an assessment by the Security Analysis Committee for safety of sporting events, who “recognised the concrete danger of violent actions by the extreme fringes of ultra supporters, suggesting to the prefect the preventive measure of adopting the ban on the sale of tickets to residents of Campania.” Tickets already purchased by residents of Campania will be canceled and refunded. On Monday, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was named the best Georgian footballer at the GFF Awards 2022. The Napoli left winger beat out Giorgi Mamardashvili and Guran Kashia to earn the award for the third time. Due to his commitments with Napoli, Kvaratskhelia was not at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Tbilisi Metekhi Palace to receive the award in person. Instead, he made his acceptance speech via video feed. Kvaratskhelia will return to training on December 27th to begin preparations for Napoli’s biggest match of the season - a trip to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to take on third-placed Internazionale.

Dries Mertens played the full 90 minutes in Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over Istanbulspor on Christmas Day. The Belgian played a number of dangerous crosses from the set piece, two of which resulted in goals. Faouzi Ghoulam has been without a club since his contract with Napoli expired on June 30. On Saturday, Ghoulam suited up for his former club, Saint-Étienne, who he played four seasons with (97 appearances) before joining Napoli. Ghoulam replaced Léo Pétrot in the 71st minute in the friendly match against Grenoble. Approximately ten minutes later, Saint-Étienne were awarded their second penalty kick of the match, which Ghoulam converted to secure a 3-1 victory.

After the friendly match against Villareal on December 17th, Napoli will welcome LOSC Lille to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for a fourth and final friendly match before the Serie A campaign resumes in January.
