On Sunday, Rangers FC issues a statement confirming that the Champions League fixture between Rangers FC and SSC Napoli had been postponed to Wednesday, September 14, 2022. According to the Scottish club, the postponement was "due to the severe limitations on policing resources and organisational challenges related to the ongoing events surrounding the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II." The visitor section will remain closed Napoli’s match against Spezia on Saturday. The decision was made in light of the clashes between supporters of the two clubs in La Spezia last season. The match, which was contested during the final round of the 2021/22 campaign, was delayed for 12 minutes after rival supporters exchanged smoke bombs and attempted to hop over the glass barrier separating home and away fans in the Curva Piscino at the Stadio Pucco.
