On Tuesday, the ACLI Sports Union, in collaboration with the FIGC, announced that Luciano Spalletti would be the 12th recipient of the prestigious Enzo Bearzot National Award. President of US ACLI, Damiano Lembo, explained why Spalletti was chosen.
“He manages to combine good play and victories. Virtues, these, which unite him to Enzo Bearzot, as well as the aptitude for teaching: on and off the pitch…A great coach, but above all a man of values. Luciano Spalletti fully reflects our idea of sport, made up of respect and education.”
Spalletti was presented the award on Friday in the Sala dei Baroni at the Maschio Angioino. Numerous club and city officials were in attendance, including SSC Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, SSC Napoli CEO, Andrea Chiavelli, Mayor of Napoli, Gaetano Manfredi, president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò and CEO and president of Sport and Health, Vito Colozzi.
While speaking at the presentation, De Laurentiis confirmed that Spalletti will remain at Napoli. De Laurentiis also confirmed that the club is organizing a Scudetto super-party that will engage the 33 million Napoli supporters around the world, connecting 15 cities with 10 different areas of the City of Napoli.
