On Monday, Stanislav Lobotka was the recipient of the Fan’s Award at the Slovak Player of the Year 2022 Gala. The Napoli midfielder was also the runner up for the Player of the Year Award, finishing only 18 points behind Inter defender Milan Škriniar. Meanwhile, former Napoli player Marek Hamšík finished third in the voting – his 16th podium in the category.
Lobotka gave an exclusive interview to Slovakian media outlet Sport24 at the gala, where he addressed playing under Luciano Spalletti, Napoli’s incredible season and playing alongside breakout star Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
“Unlike the previous coach Gattuso, Spalletti believes in me, I feel trust, that was not the case before and now I am trying to develop it…Truthfully, I didn’t expect something like this, probably no one. We are glad that the season is developing like this and that we are doing very well…I didn’t know anything about him. They probably only knew him in Georgia, but he came and showed what a great talent he is.”
