Osimhen Swap Values Revealed in Federal Court of Appeals Reasoning for Juventus Points Deduction

On Monday, the Federal Court of Appeals released its 36-page justification of why it reopened a case from April and subsequently handed Juventus FC a 15-point deduction in the 2022/23 standings. The explanation confirmed that new evidence was discovered during the “Prisma” criminal investigation, proving that Juventus systematically inflated player values in swap transactions.

The explanation opened with a summary of the allegations from the original case, including a detailed list of all player transactions that were investigated. For Napoli, the player values associated with the July 28, 2020 Victor Osimhen swap deal were revealed:

  • Orestis Karnezis – €128,205.13;
  • Luigi Liguori – €4,071,246.82;
  • Claudio Manzi – €4,021,761.59;
  • Ciro Palmieri – €7,026,348.81; and
  • Victor Osimhen – €71,246,819.34

Thus, prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè alleged that Napoli generated artificial capital gains totalling €19,330,000. The clubs were acquitted as the prosecutor relied on unofficial website Transfermarkt as its source of player values.
