On Wednesday, SSC Napoli officially announced the sale of Salvatore Sirigu to ACF Fiorentina. Sirigu joined Napoli in the summer of 2022 to play as the backup to Alex Meret, after David Ospina joined Al-Nassr FC on a free transfer.
Sirigu made his first statements after leaving Napoli.
“It was born out of a market opportunity that was presented to me. I reflected on it a bit and thought it could be a good possibility. It wasn’t easy to leave Napoli in those conditions, but this is the market and Fiorentina are certainly a top-level club, and so I set off again with enthusiasm for a new adventure. It’s a bit like what a player of my age is looking for, without wishing anyone any harm. This situation development and we moved on. It was an exchange in which everyone has come together and we are happy”
Meanwhile, Napoli have signed Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta on loan with option to buy. According to Italian media, the option would cost Napoli €8 million.
At 27 years old, Gollini has a wealth of experience in professional football, having spent two seasons at Hellas Verona, one season at Aston Villa, five seasons with Atalanta, one season at Tottenham and finally half a season at Fiorentina. During that time, Gollini conceded 177 goals in 156 appearances.
The new Napoli goalkeeper, who will wear the number 95, also briefly addressed the media.
Thank you from the bottom of my hear Napoli. Few words, lots of hunger and work!
