Since Mathias Olivera, André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Piotr Zielinski were confirmed to represent their respective countries at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, two more Napoli players have been called up by their countries.
On Friday, South Korea announced their 26-man squad, which includes central defender Kim Min-jae. On Monday, Mexico announced their squad, which includes Hirving Lozano. Both Kim and Lozano were first-choice selections.
Giovanni Simeone was left out of the Argentina squad, with Lionel Scaloni opting for Inter’s Joaquin Correa instead.
Meanwhile, nine Napoli players have been called up to their national team squads for international friendlies: Alex Meret, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Matteo Politano and Giacomo Raspadori (Italy); Leo Østigård (Norway); Stanislav Lobotka (Slovakia); Eljif Elmas (North Macedonia); Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Georgia); and Victor Osimhen (Nigeria).
Kvaratskhelia is not expected to play in Georgia’s lone international friendly against Morocco due to the back injury that has caused him to miss Napoli’s last three matches in Serie A.
