André-Frank Zambo Anguissa scored a brace, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added the third en route to a 3-1 victory over Torino.
Napoli stormed out of the gate, using quick passes and misleading ball-fakes to beat Torino’s high press. Anguissa gave Napoli an early lead, scoring his first and second ever Serie A goals in the opening 12 minutes of the match.
On the first, Mario Rui delivered an excellent in-swinging cross to pick out the big midfielder in the area. With Victor Osimhen still nursing a muscle injury, Anguissa provided much-needed height in the area, glancing his header off the upright and into the back of the goal.
Matteo Politano, who started after a speedy recovery from the ankle injury he suffered against Milan, provided the assist on Napoli’s second. The right winger chipped the ball over three Torino defenders to give Anguissa acres of space to run into.
The Cameroonian was allowed to carry the ball untouched from midfield to the six-yard box before beating Milinkovic-Savic at the near post.
Kvaratskhelia made a similar play on Napoli’s third. Piotr Zielinski played the Georgian into space at midfield. Kvara carried the length of the half before putting a left-footed strike across the face of the goal, off the upright and in.
Napoli took their collective foot off the gas late in the first half, conceding a goal to Antonio Sanabria just before the break. Alex Meret got a hand on the shot, but saw it late. The shot from close range found its way between the legs of both Mario Rui and Kim Min-jae.
Torino were the more positive side in the second half, but once again were missing a killer striker that could get them back into the match.
With the 3-1 victory, Napoli was won four consecutive matches in Serie A and six consecutive matches in all competitions. Gli Azzurri will be back in action on Tuesday to take on Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.
