On Wednesday, AFC Ajax posted a warning statement on its official website, addressed to fans intend to attend the UEFA Champions League away fixture against SSC Napoli on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
Security situation in Naples
“Previous matches of other clubs in Naples have shown that the match visit for supporters of the opposing team is not without risk. We therefore strongly advise Ajax supporters not to be recognizable as a supporter. We also advise against traveling with (young) children. The Neapolitan police have designated Stazione Marritima as a meeting point for the safety of Ajax supporters. Buses to the stadium will depart from here. This ride will take at least an hour. Buses will also return after the game. We have also been informed that there may be a long withdrawal procedure after the match.
While we understand that this is far from ideal, we encourage everyone to heed this.
In the run-up to the match, we will inform all Ajax supporters who have bought a ticket about the security situation and procedures.“
