Politano Leaves Coverciano and Returns to Napoli Due to Ankle Injury

On Tuesday, SSC Napoli confirmed via a statement on the club’s official website that right winger Matteo Politano has left Azzurri training at Coverciano and returned to Napoli. Politano suffered an ankle injury in Napoli’s 1-2 victory over Milan in Napoli’s final match before the international break. Here is the statement from the club.

Matteo Politano leaves the national team and returns to Naples. The blue striker, who suffered a sprained trauma to his right ankle on Sunday at the San Siro against Milan, will return to the SSCN Konami Training Center where rehabilitation will begin after the evaluation of the medical staff of the national team.

Recovery times for ankle sprains vary depending on the severity. Minor sprains to take two weeks to heal, while a severe sprain can take anywhere from six to 12 weeks to heal.
