After scoring nine goals through their first two matches, SSC Napoli failed to find the back of the goal in a 0-0 draw against Fiorentina.
Despite playing a Europa Conference League qualifying match on Thursday, Fiorentina were relentless in their press, making it difficult for Napoli to progress the ball from the midfield to the attack.
Nevertheless, both sides had their chances. Hirving Lozano missed a sitter early in the second half after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia picked out the Mexican with a cross to the back post.
Giacomo Raspadori, who was one of three Napoli players to make their official debuts, came close in the 75th minute, but Pierluigi Gollini parried away the low shot from outside the area.
Meanwhile for Fiorentina, Riccardo Sottil looked threatening all match. The left winger had four attempts at goal, all of which hit the target, but none of which were particularly difficult to stop for Alex Meret.
Match official Livio Marinelli squeezed his whistle tight and allowed the players to play, much to the dismay of the Fiorentina faithful, especially in the second half.
With the draw, no Serie A club has a perfect record only three matches into the 2022/2023 campaign. Napoli will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Lecce at the Stadio Maradona.
