Sara Tamborini New Napoli Striker

On July 15th, Napoli Femminile announced their fifth signing in the span of only seven days. Sara Tamborini joined the Partenopee after spending the 2021/22 campaign with Empoli F.C, where she scored one goal in 10 appearances.

Tamborini is a product of the A.C. Milan youth system. She was promoted to the senior team in 2019 and played two seasons at Milan, but was afforded limited playing time. During her time at Milan, Tamborini scored three goals in 11 appearances, 10 of which were as a substitute.

Now 21 years old, Tamborini could play a bigger role with her new club and has a positive outlook on playing in Serie B.

“I am very happy to join the Azzurri jersey, I believe that this experience can represent for me the classic step back to take two forward. I arrive in a prestigious square, I can’t wait to feel the warmth of the Neapolitan fans that some of my former teammates in Empoli told me about”

Tamborini will take the place of Evdokiya ‘Evi’ Popadinova, who announced her departure from Napoli on instagram in early July. Popadinova played two seasons for Napoli, scoring four goals in 23 total appearances. Unfortunately, Popadinova was unable to play during the second half of the 2021/22 campaign due to a torn ACL.
