On July 12th Napoli Femminile announced their third signing in as many days.
Born in 1993, Gomes brings plenty of experience to Napoli. Playing in her home country, Gomes won two Portuguese Cups, first with Boavista F.F. in 2012/13 and then with S. L. Benfica in 2018/19.
Gomes is a prolific goal scorer, having scored 23 goals in 2016/17 while playing in Portugal. The forward topper her personal best in 2020/21, scoring 29 goals in her first season with F.C. Sassari Torres Femminile in Serie C. The striker played a key role in helping Torres earn promotion to Serie B.
Against stiffer competition in Serie B, Gomes still managed to score eight goals in her second season with Torres. By contrast, Napoli’s top scorer in the 2021/22 Serie A campaign was Eleonora Goldoni with five goals.
Gomes will fill the void left by Soledad Jaimes, who joined Flamengo in early July.
