Lazio Fined €10,000, Napoli Fined €8,000

On Tuesday, Lega Serie A issued Official Communication No. 32 for the 3rd round of matches of the 2023/24 Serie A campaign contested between the 1st and 3rd of September. These are the words of Sports Judge Gerardo Mastandrea, assisted by Stefania Ginesio and by representative of the AIA Carlo Moretti:

“Napoli-Lazio Match

The sports judge, having read the report of the collaborators of the federal prosecutor’s office, deems it necessary that a detailed report be acquired by the same prosecutor’s office from those responsible for public order regarding the facts reported, which involve all the Lazio fans present (983 supporters in total), regarding reports of discriminatory chants of a racial origin (towards opposing players on the field) and religion (towards other team’s fans), as well as denigrating chants of territorial origin (towards opposing fans), sung on several occasions during the match by the aforementioned supporters, in different percentages up to the totality, including the initiatives taken also for the purpose of identifying the aforementioned supporters and confirming their belonging to organized supporter groups present at the Stadio Olimpico during the sky blue club’s home matches.

“fine of €10,000.00: to the Lazio club for its supporters, in the 13th minute of the first half, throwing a smoke bomb in the sector occupied by the opposing team’s supporters and two firecrackers onto the playing surface; mitigated sanction pursuant to art. 29, paragraph 1 lett. b) CGS.

“fine of €8,000.00: to the Napoli club for its supporters, in the 20th minute of the first half, throwing a smoke bomb in the sector occupied by the opposing team’s supporters; mitigated sanction pursuant to art. 29, paragraph 1 lett. b) CGS.”
