On Thursday, Empoli FC issued a statement confirming that goalkeeper Elia Caprile has suffered an ankle injury in training.
“Empoli Football announces that the tests carried out this afternoon on the player Elia Caprile confirmed the hypothesis of a capsular ligament injury to the right ankle. The footballer will continue the physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatment already undertaken with the blue medical staff.”
According to Empoli coach Paolo Zanetti, the Napoli-owned goalkeeper could be out of action for two months.
“I don’t have good news. The boy hurt his ankle, a very important distortion that will take him away for many games, probably a couple of months. He’s a big player, apart from the injury because he’s a guy we bet everything on. [We have] Great faith in Perisian, who already gave us a hand last year when the Vicario was injured. He has a great opportunity and I hope he takes it in a big way. I am very sorry for Elia because we are at the start of the championship and because he is very young and was very motivated.”
