Ambrosino Scores First Professional Goal

Former Napoli Primavera player, Giuseppe Ambrosino, scored his first professional goal on Sunday in Como’s 0-3 victory over Ternana. Ambrosino made his third consecutive substitute appearance, replacing Alessandro Gabrielloni midway through the second half

The goal was scored against the run of play. With Como up 0-1, Ternana pushed for the equalizer, hitting the frame of the goal twice in the span of 16 minutes. Moments after Andrea Favilli struck the crossbar, Como made a rare foray forward and won a corner kick.

The corner was taken deep, where Leonardo Mancuso retreated to head the ball back into the danger area. Como centre back Cas Odenthal stretched to touch the ball to Ambrisino at the penalty spot. The young forward’s volley slammed into the underside of the crossbar, bounced inside the goal and then back out again. Play resumed momentarily before the goal was awarded to Ambrosino.

Currently on loan from Napoli, Ambrosino nearly scored a second moments after the restart. Once again Mancuso led the attack, picking out Ambrosino’s run in front of the goal. The striker had only the keeper to beat but Antony Iannarilli got just enough of the ball to deflect it wide of the goal.

Ambrosino spoke to Sky Sport after the match.

“I am delighted to have scored my first professional goal ! We played a high-level match. The three points won are very important for the whole team. I work day and night. I will do my best to continue the season in the best posible way. My goal is to become a bandiera for Napoli , the team of my city, and I will do everything to achieve it.”
