Why Andrea Petagna’s First Monza Goal is Important for Napoli

On Wednesday, Andrea Petagna scored his first goal since joining Monza in a 2-3 victory over Udinese in the Coppa Italia. With the score level at two, the striker controlled a heavy pass from Salvatore Molina, dribbled through four Udinese defenders in the area and slotted a shot into the bottom corner of the goal.

Petagna, whose goal turned out to be the match winner, made his first appearance after missing four matches due to a muscular injury.

The goal was not only important for Monza, who advanced to the Coppa Italia Round of 16. Napoli will be hoping the goal helps Petagna find his form, as Monza have an option to redeem Petagna for €12.5 million (including bonuses). If Monza avoid relegation, that option automatically becomes an obligation.
