Napoli Primavera Sign Jorge Alastuey

On Saturday, Napoli Primavera officially registered Jorge Alastuey on a free transfer from FC Barcelona.

Per footballtalentscout.net, Alastuey joined Barcelona at the age of 13 and progressed through the ranks at La Masía. El Mago (the magician) captained Barcelona’s U15 and U16 teams, before winning the Istria Youth Cup in 2018. Alastuey was named MVP of the tournament.

Alastuey’s development was set back during the 2018/19 season, when the young Spaniard suffered an ACL tear. Despite not playing for a year, Barcelona extended his contract for three seasons and promoted him to the U18s. In 2019/20, Alastuey played a key role in Barcelona’s title-winning campaign, scoring five goals and adding a few assists.

In terms of playing style, Alastuey is a left-footed midfielder with excellent technical abilities. He can play any role in the middle of the park, from attacking midfielder to regista (deep-lying playmaker). Though capable of scoring goals, Alastuey is primarily an intelligent distributor of the ball.

Alastuey was already called up to the squad for Napoli U19’s match against Bologna on Sunday.
