Nosa Obaretin, Gennaro Iaccarino and Francesco Gioielli all scored as Napoli U19 ended a four-game losing streak in the Primavera 1 with a 3-0 victory over Bologna U19
Lineup
Nicolò Frustalupi fielded the same squad that he played in Napoli’s previous Primavera 1 match against Cagliari, which represented a turnover of nearly the entire squad he fielded against Ajax in the UEFA Youth League.
(3-4-2-1) Boffelli; Hysaj, Barba, Obaretin; Acampa, Gioielli, Iaccarino, Lamine; Marranzino, Spavone; Rossi
Match
Napoli started the match well, with Rossi coming close only three minutes in. Three minutes later, Obaretin scored his second goal of the campaign, guiding in the cross from Iaccarino with his knee.
Napoli continued to push forward after taking the lead. In the 27th minute, Spavone launched the ball forward for Rossi but the striker was unable to convert the chance. Rossi returned the favour a few minutes later, but Spavone’s shot finished wide of the mark.
After a very positive half, Napoli took a 1-0 lead into the break. Napoli went from strength to strength in the second half.
The Azzurrini were awarded a penalty kick at the hour mark, after Mattia Motolese blocked Marranzino’s shot in the area with arm. Nicola Bagnolini guessed correctly but couldn’t stop Iaccarino’s shot into the top corner – his third in all competitions, all from the penalty spot.
Napoli added a third a few minutes later after Gioielli tapped in the Lamine’s low ball to the far post. Gioielli continued his strong start to the season, scoring three goals in his last five Primavera 1 matches.
Bologna had an opportunity to get back into the match in 63rd minute after earning a penalty of their own. However, Boffelli stopped the effort from Gennaro Anatriello to preserve the clean sheet.
Frustalupi relied on his bench to close out the match, including a debut for new signing Jorge Alastuey.
With the win, Napoli ended a four-game losing streak. The Azzurrini will be back in action on Wednesday for the return leg against Ajax in the Youth League.
