Francesco Calzona Appointed Coach of Slovakia National Team

On Tuesday, the Slovak Football Association officially announced the appointment of Francesco Calzona as the new Head Coach of the Slovakia national team.

Calzona worked at Napoli as an assistant to Maurizio Sarri from 2015 to 2018 and as a technical assistant to Luciano Spalletti during the 2021/22 campaign, where he worked with with Slovakia national team players Marek Hamsik and Stanislav Lobotka.

The 53-year-old signed a contract to the end of 2023, with an automatic renewal should Slovakia qualify for UEFA Euro 2024.

Calzona will be presented by Slovakia Football Association President Ján Kováčik and Vice president Karol Belaník at a press conference on Friday, September 2, 2022.
