Cioffi joins U.S. Città di Pontedera

Antonio Cioffi has officially joined Serie C club U.S. Città di Pontedera on a loan transfer. Born in 2003, Cioffi spent the last two seasons with Napoli’s primavera squad.

Cioffi missed the start of the 2021/22 campaign due to covid and the end of the campaign due to a foot fracture, but still managed to score 5 goals in 29 appearances for the Azzurrini.

A natural winger, Cioffi struggled to adapt to coach Nicolo Frustalupi’s 3-4-2-1 formation, where he was predominantly used as a trequartista. Cioffi scored most of his goals when he was used as a striker.

Cioffi scored six goals in 2020/21, with his most impressive performance being against Virtus Entella U19. Cioffi was involved in all four of Napoli’s goals, scoring three and assisting the fourth in the victory over the Genovese club.

His play with the primavera earned him 20 call-ups to the senior team, then managed by Gennaro Gattuso, where he made one substitute appearance against Fiorentina.
